Its been a long time, but are there actually any old WPR sites still open out there? I can't find many of the old sites out anymore ... unless all my links are just dead now ...

Missing [29 Aug 2006|09:36pm]

Hey kids and non-kids,
How ya'll doing? The reason I'm writing my ickle post is quite simply, I'm wondering how you all are? Basically, the old WPR mob, the olds chums and alliances. How have you all been? If you still have your WPR, I want to know how it is, if you've got a new one, I want to know that too!

Do you miss reviewing? If so, why? Would you ever review or open a WPR again? And why did you stop? I want to know these things!!

So I'll answer, The Damned was open for a little while and then due to my work schedule I didn't have time to keep it going. Life got in the way. The community began to die off, super WPRs died off everywhere, the WPR community split and it wasn't fun anymore, it sort of became a chore. Without my Michi/Kim to enjoy my days with and to send love notes over MSN, without my Claudia/Brandi and my darling Trunks/Adam to argue over who the Mistress REALLY was, things became bland. I lost touch with a lot of WPR peoples, Hikaru, who is a total byatch anyways ;). Buffy who spiced things up, Emiko, my WPR best friend. Even people I was mean to, like Emeryl and Chii. And my sexy bitch Cosmos who I speak to once in a blue moon. Without all this, reviewing showed me exactly what it was, tedious at times.

The community was what sprinkled WPRing for me, I wrote good Reviews because I felt, I had become a keystone in the WPR community, someone who held their weight as a GOOD reviewer. When it collapsed, I felt as if my reviews were meaningless rubbish and trash. Even Linny, who's reviews were WPR heaven, stopped and part of my inspiration died with her. Long live Fishbowl!

If I would ever open a WPR again? To be honest, I've been thinking about it but I'd need a heavy source of inspiration to do it again. I'd either re-open The Damned or even consider doing Nevermind. I did it for a while without Emiko but I doubt it would be the same without her. I'm planning on putting more thoughts into my domain, which is down cause my credit card changed number. I'm wanting to get that up and running and the forums too.

If that works, then I might consider doing it if I find the inspiration, I do miss it.

Love ya'll!
xoxo

The times I miss. [10 Aug 2005|03:57pm]

[ mood | nostalgic ]

Well boredom rules all and I've decided to be nostalgic again, something we all seem to have done at some point or another in the past year. We all miss the old WPR World that belonged to us, where Michiru was Queen and I was a Bitch and Kajouka reviewed and Emiko... well, anyways. I've decided to list some WPR Owner and write my fondest memory of them while we were reviewing together. P.S. Reading all the old entries had me rolling around the floor today. I'll start with the most important WPR person.

Ruu: My fondest memory of me... well, I quite liked the time I copied Hotaru's WPR and re-named myself Hataru... that was great fun. Also, having Bitch was quite good fun, SUPAH LEET HAXOR fun.
Claudia: Iunno really... there's so many. There was Titus Maximus, only Claudia knows what that is, and then there was our wedding which was SO much better than Emiko and Michiru's. Jeez, we had a monkey priest and a cow blimp, no contest.
Michiru: Our thousands of arguments, my ten minutes of fame as Papi, headmistress in training at DRR. Our longass sessions on MSN, loads of shit. We've been through loads and all of it is fond memories, apart from when she calls me fat. Bitch.
Emiko: Emiko... we sort of drifted apart near the end but jebus we had some laughs. Anything to do with Emiko and me used to just be great fun. I can't remember us arguing once... and then Nevermind... oh the joys. The Hello Hitler Kitty layout and the Ruu as the bride from Hell layouts were two of my favorites moments.
Trunks: Realising he was a nice guy, him coming back from the dead, arguing over who was the Mistress on AIM, even though we all know it's me and NOT Hikaru that fucking hobag. He is an angel and a hawt one at that.
Hikaru: I don't have any fond moments of Hikaru, she sucks. XD. I loved RD and loved bitching at her about the crappy quality of her layouts, I'm sure she misses my input, XD.
Emeryl: We just argued.
Buffy: The time me, Buffy and Michiru all dissed each other over MSN with screen names was hilarious and speaking on the microphone. Of course, I miss going to her and Amanda's WPR to read their bitching.
Kajouka: The time I discovered she was part of Bad Candy, was that what it was called? That was just priceless. Also, when it was revealed and then they showed us all the clues they had given us and we were all too stupid to notice.
Cosmos: Our five minute chats on MSN and your fucking beautiful layouts. Bitch. I miss you Cosmos.
Linny: Linnykins! We used to talk all the time on AIM while you were hosting Nevermind and Fishbowl was just... wow. I hate you. XD.

People I missed out because I need to go and don't have time. Tiringil, Chii, Miwako.

Hey! How's everyone doing these days? It's been a while, eh?

Has anyone else noticed some of the new WPRs that have surfaced lately? Some of them are actually quite good, while some of them are... not. Reminding anyone of the old days yet? XD It seems that a lot of the best ones are owned by people who have owned web graphic sites for a few years... They really know their stuff. Of course, just like way back when... There are a handful that I want to throw things at (aren't I a terrible person?) XD

The best of the new ones seem to be Captious Pedants and White Words Review. White Words doesn't have many reviews yet, but I think they have a lot of potential. I know some of the reviewers and am familiar with almost ALL of their sites... They know their stuff. It should be interesting how things go. I submitted myself to Captious a few weeks or so ago and at first I was a little obsessed then I realized that the review was unbelievably helpful. Particularly the coding help. Since the review my coding has been easier and a lot cleaner to work with. I'm very grateful for that.

Well, enough of my rambling. Oh wait... One last thing. Oh look! There's WPR drama! It never ends, does it? Apparently someone was unhappy with a truthful review and had a mental breakdown o_O I've had people call me a bitch, a snob, etc. Hell, my old WPR received a comment about us being as "stuck-up as some space needle or other" (which just made me laugh uncontrollably, probably proving their point)... But never have I ever heard of someone needing mental help after a review.

I think it's important for people to not let a review ruin your life and to remember there's life beyond the Internet! Life goes on, and if your mature enough to handle criticism, you will too. Let's face it. We're criticized from the day we're born until the day we die. You should be able to take it by the age of 13... ESPECIALLY when you yourself asked for it.

OK. NOW I'm done rambling ;P

Delayed reviews? [11 Feb 2005|09:22pm]

frozen_ashes
[ mood | exhausted ]

I was just wondering what others' views were on when a review is late, for one reason or another.
Do you think it's better for a review to be a day or two late, but be a better review for it; or for the review to be on-time, but half of it is just fluff that isn't worthwhile?
...then again, what about reviews in progress? Would you ever think of uploading that, to show the person being reviewed how it's going?

My thoughts on the topic are that personally, I'd rather take a little longer if it's my own WPR I'm writing the review for, and not another's, that way it wouldn't be besmirching upon their name of... you know. On-time-ness. (Which isn't to say that it's still not giving one's all, it's just giving one's all in a shorter time period. Which is less of an all. It's like an al. Or an aal?)
Anyway. I got off-topic.
And as for the "review-in-progress" thing, I think it'd be kind of silly to do, seeing as one might look back and go "huh, that statement is totally wrong", but if it's already uploaded, then, well... nothing one can do except hope no one's seen it.

Off to resuming review-writing on my part! :D

Well... I've been promising it for years and years! And so finally, it's completed. The Damned is alive and kicking, took me long enough, 4 months to be prec ise. I first started the idea on the 23rd of Semptember. So yeah... here it is! My first solo WPR, w00t! XD.

Video Games? [31 Jan 2005|03:06am]

xerne
Seems like every review site I find these days has a specific list of the anime series it will review sites for. On one hand I can see the benefits of this, because it means reviewers are familiar with the material.

On the other hand, I'm going slightly mad trying to find a reviewer I can submit my shrine to. It's a Final Fantasy character shrine, and it seems video game shrines are a niche that's untouched these days. A couple years ago I got reviews from Yumemiru and the now-defunct Got Game. Do any of you accept/know of a site that accepts video game character sites?

If not, do you think there'd be interest in one?

I am so happy to see that the WPR World isn't dead afterall and that it's slowly coming back together. About a month or two ago I was bumbed that all my good friends closed and almost no one but I think Kiyoura was active. But lots of WPRs are slowly opening and it seems like perhaps in a few months the WPR world will be back =) Its like we all just needed some time away and now we're ready to review.

Sorry you guys know how I love to post mushy gushy things. Erm. I love Ruu. Bye =)

I'm thinking of opening another WPR. The name is a surprise, so you'll have to wait. XD

Is anyone interested in hosting this WPR, or reviewing with me?

Long time, no see! [23 Dec 2004|11:16pm]

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've been in the land-of-the-living WPR-wise and I hope everyone is well. I've missed you all so much... Things have been far too quiet.

I was reading Chii's post, and I have to say, I miss the reviewing. More than I thought I did. I also miss the crazy insane tagboard discussion, with all the tazering and whatnot... *ahem* It has a lot to do with everyone's wonderful-ness... XD *cuddles everyone* Anyway, your post served as the motivation I've lacked since last May, Chii. I owe you cookies, dearie :D

Anyway, I finally got off my butt to make a new WPR. I had every intention of bringing RR back... But I realized that that wouldn't help anything. The same thing would happen. So, I've started over. No specials, no articles... Just reviews. At least for the time being. I felt obligated to update those other things, and lost focus on things... I think focusing on reviewing will help a bit ^__^

I have to say I was pretty sad as I went through my old linkage lists @_@ I could only find 2 of my favourite WPRs that were active. 2. Scary...

Well... Here's the link to my new WPR: Oblivion. Hopefully it will be the start of something good ^__^

Much love to you all, and happy holidays!

Missing all y'all [05 Nov 2004|08:17pm]

[ mood | disappointed ]

Today, being bored as hell, I went way back in the WPR bitches posts and found a whole bunch of old ones that made me laugh. Like that one where Miwa-P made fun of Dolly Square Reviews. AAAAAND, its made me all sad 'n stuff because I miss those old days. When we were a big happy reviewing, bad reviewer terrorizing team! Now we've all drifted apart and I miss joo guys. Mainly talking about Kim, Buffy, Kara, Miwa, Tiri, Cosmos, Ruu, Emi, Trunks, Hikaru, Claudia and hrmm who else? I forget, only person I really talk to anymore is my Agie Wagie (PinkSpider) who is thinking of re-opening her WPR but you didn't hear that from me XD

Now I'm all sad and like thinking of old times 'n stuff. I hate change, we should all go back in time and things should be as they were!

Maybe I'll come back and review at some friends' WPRs. I mean, I had to take the semester off of school (I missed too much because of depressed and stressed and stuff). So yeah, I have a lot of free time on my hands now, so spitting out a few reviews a week I could probably handle. My god I miss everyone!

I <3 you all, let's go time traveling sometime okies?

Hii. It's me, Blu, from over yonder at Amusement. I wrote an article for the site last month, and was wondering if I might get a couple comments on it before I upload it, that way I know whether or not I should mess with it some more.
...And I miss seeing posts 'round here. ;_;
Here's the article.Collapse )
Well, thanks, anyway. Have a nice day... and stuff. Woo, stuff.
